Katie Scott, Headteacher of Langley Park School for Girls
Katie Scott is the headteacher of Langley Park School for Girls, a high performing girls’ comprehensive in South London. With a progress 8 score of above 1.0 and an ALPS score of 1, LPGS is a non-selective school in which girls (and boys in the Sixth form) thrive, not only academically, but personally. An explicit emphasis on developing key characteristics and a curriculum that includes a mixed-age elective programme, aims to develop empowered young people who want to make the world a better place.
Previously Katie was the Principal of Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA), a mixed comprehensive in Brighton. The results, recruitment of students and finances were transformed under her leadership and the school achieved its first ever ‘Good’ judgement from Ofsted after years of receiving inadequate and ‘requires improvement’ judgements. PACA won Community School of the year in 2016 for its Social Action work as well as dramatically improved student outcomes. Prior to that she was a Deputy Headteacher in West Sussex and an Assistant Headteacher in Lewisham. As a history and politics teacher her career prior to senior leadership was in schools in Bromley and Lewisham.
