Ben McGinnes, Teacher at Danesfield School
Ben McGinnes has been a teacher at Danesfield School for the last 4 years and has taught in Year 1 and Year 3. He is currently leading the schools’ EdTech strategy and has been pivotal in embedding technology across the curriculum, leading training to bring the staff on the journey with him and feel confident to use a range of technological resources they would not have otherwise considered. He has played a key role in ensuring the transition to remote learning was successful and as a result, Danesfield has a very effective system for home learning in place using Microsoft Teams. As part of the EdTech program, he is supporting a number of schools to develop their remote learning strategy.
He has also been instrumental in setting up the schools’ YouTube channel, where teaching staff regularly post videos to assist teachers far and wide, sharing imaginative lesson ideas and how these can be easily planned and implemented. He is an incredibly creative teacher, especially when it comes to using technology to enhance learning, and has supported staff to use software such as FlipGrid and Minecraft to engage children in innovative and exciting ways to extend their learning.
